David Beckham gets knighted (after being snubbed for years)! apparently

He jumped the shark when the queen died and was conveniently filmed queuing up like Joe Public in a “disguise”.
He was also on his own, surely such a Royalist would wan't his family to pay their respects and que up for 24+ hours like he did? I wonder if they will show up at the Palace when he gets knighted?

It woundn't surprise me if the self obsessed prick goes to the Cenotaph on Remembrance day with wearing a medal! He will defo do a programme about finding out about a family member in the war!

Unbelievable how much money this brain dead, vacuous **** has managed to make for himself.

Don’t think he’s especially malign, and fame and money have done far, far worse things to others, but if I got the chance to spend anything more than an evening in his company (for reasons of morbid curiosity) then I honestly wouldn’t be interested.

I bet he’s a right boring ****.
Gary Neville is his best mate and was his best man! Some stag do that!

I don't understand these knighthoods..
They're given to these rich famous people who already live a charmed life because of their talent and their driving force in life is usually fame and money.

Yes they do a bit for charity like turning up here and there at events etc.
Why not primarily give them to not famous ordinary people who do things for homeless people or food banks. Or people who work in disaster areas overseas and not famous Rock stars, actors or footballers.

Typical example....New Zealand/Australian opthamologist Dr Fred Hollows on his holidays organised an aeroplane full of equipment and organised a team of volunteers, they travelled and removed thousands of cataracts in Africa, Nepal , Vietnam giving sight to so many people in third world countries who would've slowly gone blind....for free.
No knighthood, but David fucking Beckham gets one.

he was dead unlucky that the press knew just where he was in the line when waiting to pay his respects.
In fairness, he's one of the most famous, instantly recognisable people in the country and was standing in the middle of central London alongside thousands of other people and the world's media. It was never going to take long for word to spread.

That said, him getting a knighthood is ridiculous; but then so is the whole honours system.

Hollows did get the highest Australian honour, but Australian knighthoods were dropped in the 80s.

Plenty of foreigners got knighthoods from the Queen they just weren't allowed to call themselves sir.
In my opinion if anybody deserved one it was Fred.
But I just used him as an example of someone who has done an awful lot for other humans and I don't mean just given money. There are plenty others in the world who deserve this kind of recognition.

Definitely not going to argue that there are deserving people who don't get them!

I met him once a few years ago at a football awards do. His missus was a mute sour faced woman but he came across as quite normal. Quietly spoken. Very polite. Shook hands with anyone who came up to him, posed for selfies. Even laughed when I called him a twat for getting sent off v Argentina. The amount of people who wanted a little piece of him that night, celebs and members of the public was frightening. But he did it all with some grace.
He's also the best crosser of a ball I've even seen.

Don't really get the hate, there are far worse things in the world to get all hot under the collar about. Like that twat the fake Ronaldo.

In all reality, it probably wouldn't.
RU doesn't collect many knighthoods either - Beaumont, Edwards and Gerald Davies are about it recently, McGeechan was 15 years ago, Woodward over 20.

NZ give a few out too, but nearly all are for social activity or administration.
It's taken 130 years for Rugby League to get one. That's one. So yeah, it probably would.

If the world ends soon then at least it might prevent the cockney fraud from fulfilling his lifetime ambition.

However Well Done Mr Roger Daltrey a worthy Recipiant , Thanks apart from his Music his Hard Work he put into The Teenage Cancer Trust
Well Done!

Many of the rich and famous present as philanthropists but they rarely pay any if much tax - using offshore accounts etc… we could all give money to charity if we were swerving our HMRC responsibilities.
