Will be ordering this. Saw the show at the Free Trade Hall April 72, front row seats, a great night even though the place was hardly full
Respect and jealousy in equal measure. As I must be younger, I saw the Smiths play there (down the front) almost exactly 12 years later. Weird shit, bro. Will be ordering this. Saw the show at the Free Trade Hall April 72, front row seats, a great night even though the place was hardly full

Fair enough if 20% is going to charity but you actually don't have to fork out the balance as this gig has been shown a couple of times at least late on Friday nights on BBC4 over the past couple of years, and I suspect it will get shown again soon enough with him passing away this week.
Unfortunately Jeff Beck won't give his permission for the two songs that he appears on to be Officially released. He says he doesn't like the way he looks, he was wearing flared pants, no shit it was 1973.
The reality for those that have watched his performance is that his guitar strap breaks during the Jean Genie and ultimately he ends up relying on Ronson to pull him out of the mire when he was meant to be main man.
Most bootlegs cost £14-£18 for singles and £25-£35 for doubles so if you view it from that perspective it's a bargin.
I'm sure this release isn't for a casual Bowie fan, but more the hardcore fans like myself.
Hope you had a great Christmas and NewYear Wes. I was 14 in 1972 but never got a chance to see Ziggy. I think the TOTP's appearance doing Starman is what catapulted him into stardom. I know by time Ziggy rolled into Blackburn in spring 1973 he was doing a matinee and evening show at the King Georges Hall which is a venue we both know well.
I know this is probably a stupid question but you didn't happen to tape the Free Trade Hall show you went to by any chance? I have a recording of it but it's pretty dire in sound quality.
This Bowie subject has cropped up from time to time for discussion on here, both in Bowie threads and one about Jeff Beck.
Well I've recently found out that Robin Mayhew the sound engineer for Bowie for all the "Ziggy Shows" recorded this show in it's entirity and has it for sale on his official website for £12 with 20% going to charity.
I have bought my copy and it arrived within two or three days and it's awsome.
Anyone else thats like minded can buy their copy here:

If you like Bowie this is without doubt the best Bowie recording of the lot.
