David Conn on Abu Dhabi and Human Rights

City have been a media target since the target with our owners referred to in demeaning terms

Where is Conn's piece on Abramovich and his close links to a corrupt and evil regime in Russia whose human rights record is appalling

Where is his condemnation of those American owners whose support of the political regime in America a regime which has been accused of prisoner torture and breaches in human rights

And where is the condemnation of the Jewish owners who support Israel a country which has been accused of many breaches of human rights

My point is if you have an argument to make it is easy find evidence and support to that argument what it isnt easy to do and Conn has made no attempt to do it is to right a balanced piece allowing the reader to make up his mind.

The UAE has been praised by politicians in the UK if things were so bad surely there would have been a furore in the papers but there hasnt

Maybe the anger of one individual should not be the basis for a witch-hunt against our owner and our club

A very good post which sums up the double standards of Conn's piece.

David Conn is a City fan..........not that you would know it from this article
He claims to be one but couldn't be further from it.
That's David's problem. He is a City fan. He desperately WANTS to be a City fan but he's in turmoil as we've had money we've not earned poured into us, giving us what he sees as an unfair advantage. Plus we're owned by someone who is connected to a regime which has a justice system and police force that isn't perfect. Ignoring the fact you could say the same about ours here in the UK.

He has an admirable belief in the concepts of fairness and justice but still can't bring himself to ditch his love for City. He is like someone who complains long and hard about the injustices of the tax system yet is strongly tempted to use a Polish builder who isn't VAT registered but will do a great job for half the price of anyone else. Or pours out his angst about human rights abuses on a phone, tablet or computer made by slave labour in China.

It's like waiting all your life for an ice cream, but being too poor to buy one. Then one day someone gives you the largest and most impressive ice cream ever created, and you start tucking into to it and it the best thing ever...

Then someone tells you that the chocolate sprinkles were made from womens tears.

Do you give the ice cream back or carrying on licking away at it like a man possessed?

Thank goodness for our moral compass!<br /><br />-- Wed Jul 31, 2013 1:47 pm --<br /><br />"That's David's problem. He is a City fan. What would happened to East Manchester without ADG investment? Absolutely nothing that's what! What are FC Utd doing for urban regeneration? Not a lot. It's a crazy dream world utopia.

This is what I thought you WERE going to say.

FFP isn't having the desired effect. Time for a different tac. A crafted smear campaign.
It'll blow over.

Buy into this shit and we'll be in an half empty half finished stadium watching third class football within a decade. And Clayton and Beswick will be back to being a sore on the arse of Manchester.
Meanwhile, the political locusts at HRW etc will still be blathering about human nature in some part of the world most people aren't otherwise too concerned about.

The US/UK are much more harmful to the well-being and rights of humans than AD. We both share many of the same unsavoury elements, which need to be stopped, but only one keeps their claws within their own borders. I don't see them invading other nations, engaging in bombing campaigns, signature strikes etc. etc.

In fact, the above is a very strong reason why they should clamp down heavily on even a mere suggestion of extremism.

Then those on this moral crusade can congratulate themselves meanwhile.......
