David Phillips

Nice bloke, glad to see him looking well. What a day Charlton was, the passing of time doesn't dim the magical memories, thank you David Phillips

Skip came from an army background and certainly with the youth teams he brought through he was a strict disciplinarian.
Lakey talks about it in his book as I do in Teenage Kicks.
A lot of the players (looking back) say it was the making of them, for some it was the breaking of them...... Chris Coleman being I good example. Played a few A team games and one reserve game aged 16 having left school summer of 86 and looked promising. But Skip's style was not for him and he was allowed to leave after 3 months, returning to his home town club Swansea.
Cheers for that

Remember his long rangers flying into the various top bins particularly on the odd occasion I sat on the planks in Platt Lane.
Lovely little player and very good on his day. Good to see him looking well and remembering City fondly.
