David Platt

I'm not sure either Platt or Kidd are good enough to be considered management material for a club such as City , and especially now the club tend to seek higher profile guys for the hot seat.

Kidd seems content to take a back seat , he's a Manchester lad and , at 63 years of age , he's probably just looking to finish his working days now in the job he's in ...... whilst Platt , at 46 , just doesn't strike me as a City manager of today , or tomorrow ... even though you have to admire the way he's taken the club to his heart , he does appear to give the job his all.

But i just don't see him in the managers role here.

If Mancini was to leave us any new manager would probably want to bring his own staff in ..... and that could mean Platt being released , and Kidd retiring.

Platt looks happy to be in his current role, and the whole management team must be doing something right.
I've got a feeling that the Forest fans were less than impressed with him when he was there as manager, could be wrong. I would be very surprised if he got the top job when RC goes, I'm sure the board would look for someone with a Champions Leagure pedigree.

Forest supporters didn't rate Platts management skills at all !

from wikipedia ....

In July 1999, Platt was appointed manager of Nottingham Forest, who had just been relegated from the Premier League. He actually made a playing comeback in the 1999–2000 season, playing three Division One games, and scoring once against Crystal Palace at the start of the following season.[39]
He was manager at the City Ground for two seasons, but had little success despite spending several million pounds on players who did not perform well and plunging the club into large sums of debt. Platt's tenure at Forest was marred by disagreements with several experienced, long-serving players, leading to them being isolated from the first-team picture and subsequently released by the club. He is still hugely unpopular with many Forest fans who blame him for the club's decline on and off the field during the 2000s, which culminated in relegation to the league's third tier four years after his departure.

Regarding Platty I agree with the OP that he has managerial potential and he could be a possible replacement were Bobby to leave.

doubt it, given the high profile style of our owners, bet my dick that they would go for big as names

Having watched Platt in many Press Conferences, interviews and seeing him on the sidelines at matches, I think he is doing a fantastic job in supporting Mancini (as is Kiddo too). He is very good with the press, and doesn't suffer fools gladly.

When the time does come around when Roberto decides to move on (or is moved on), and Platty is still at the club, whould he be someone that should be considered to take over as Manager?

That's the day I'd give up watching City.

I respect Platt as a coach enormously and was one of the ones who vigorously defended his appointment on here, but if he's in with a shout at the managers job then I'm delivering my CV too

David Platt from coronation street as more chance of becoming are next manager.
