If nobody comes in then he absolutely must stay. We dont have the depth if he leaves. Applies to Gundogan as well.

Who was saying that David hasn’t ever had that big defining contribution to our success and thus couldn’t be classed as a legend in the same way that Vinny, Yaya, and Sergio could?

Never mind, it doesn’t matter, he’s definitely got it now (if you don’t count all the others).

He is and always will be a City legend.

He was excellent and I’m glad he scored the first. He’s been key to everything over the past 8 years but he’s never had a moment like Yaya, Aguero and Kompany. Until today

End of a tough but rewarding season. Fitting David scored the opener yesterday to put to bed a difficult 2nd half of the season for him but not quite the disaster some were making out.
A contract is a contract [emoji6] so see you again in August [emoji1360][emoji471][emoji471][emoji471]
Thank god, I was afraid he was leaving

That excellent Times article contains some interesting stats relating to Dave.

Chances created from open play - 95, 2nd behind Sterling

Possession won in final third - 34, 3rd behind Bernardo and Sterling

Touches in opposition box - 317, 2nd behind Sterling

Successful passes in opposition half - 1,868, 3rd behind Gundogan and Laporte(!)

Successful passes ending in final third - 1,127, 1st

Although his form took a dip at times in the last 10-12 games those figures do suggest why Pep starts him more times than not. Hopefully KdB will stay fit next season and we'll be able to properly rotate our midfielders to get the best out of all of them.

Imo, he has looked a bit sharper in recent games, which adds to the feeling I have had all along, that he has been carrying something for most of the season, like a painful leg or something, which is putting him off his game, rather than just age catching up with him.

He was better than ever, then suddenly wasn't & it's not just been a running thing, it's his actual touch on the ball (hence 20 games with no goal).

Something happened imo.

I think he was just knackered to be honest, he was struggling when we were playing every 3 days. The touch might have just been a heaviness in his legs.

I don't think it was much of a surprise when he had some time off and then came back to run the show in the derby. There's a lot left in the tank yet, as long as we don't overuse him from now on
