please dont compare silva to benarbia. i maybe missing something but if benarbia was "that good" why had nobody heard of him until he was 34 and played in the second tier of english football. unlike the world cup & FA cup winner david silva?

Ali wasn't quite in the same class as Silva. But he was hardly a nobody. He never got in the french team because he played in their golden generation, was a bit of luxury player, and to compete with a certain Monsieur Zidane (along with the likes of Djorkaeff and Dugarry) He won two championships in France, and was French league player of the year in 1999.

he never got in the french team because he was algerian, who he played for 9 times.

The sad fact is we probably need another creative player. We cant go into this long season with one playmaker source. An alternative options would be to drop Tevez into the middle and see how he does infront of Agrero and Dzeko.
That wont work cos tevez plays for tevez, not for the team, nobody else would get the ball

l dont think you can compare the two players. Im a fan of Silva but for sheer entertainment Ali was better.

We were very lucky to have seen him.

silva is just class, benarbia was a terrific player but never had the same class as silva does

He only played for Algeria from age 32 on, and that was only after he had been overlooked for the French national team several times.

French league, yes.
French, no.

Ali was Algerian.

If you think Silva is class wait until you see Aguero in action.

The thought of Silva and Aguero working together is just mouth watering.

Hahah at the French nationality comments.

Of coarse David Silva has more pedigree at a higher level. Benarbia was a brilliant player in his time in the French league. I think they have a similar effect on the City side, they are the creative genius in the middle, we really haven't had anyone have as much creative impact to Ali since he left. We've had Elano and Ireland pulling off the creative stuff but it wasn't as consistent.

Anyone remember Ali's back heel to Goater, what a goal.

I'll be very interested to see what WOW factor Aguero gives us. Happy days lads
