Watching Silva tonight get his second start of the season was a plus tonight I really enjoy watching this lad and tonight he was my Man Of The Match by a long shot created most of our chances and caused a big problem to Salzburg's defence.

I hear many people when we signed him saying how he will just end up like Robinho because he is too lightweight and he won't enjoy the weather, now as much as I don't want to turn this into a Robinho hate thread because 1) I liked the guy and 2) I don't want the thread to turn away from Silva.......

But what I have noticed about Silva (what I've said countless amount of times to people who knock the lad) is yes he is lightweight but unlike Robinho he gets back up and gets on with it like most lightweight players in the league i.e Arshavin and every game I watch Silva in he looks like the same player his composure is good as well as his consistancy, what he lacks in strength he makes up in so many other aspects his passing is immense he's fast and he's full of skill. Now as the weather comment I've heard from a few people the lad played in Austria today in a weather of 9°C and got Man Of The Match for me so that pretty much pisses on that then.

Also this lad looks just as good away as he has been looking at home, for me he will definitely justify his £24M move from Valencia and it'll look like a bargin.

exactly m8 i said this when we signed him you have to give him 10-15 games b4 you can judge what hes gonna be like and even that could be a little early

I have never doubted he'll come good. Not that I'm saying 1 good game means that he has. Doesn't mean much either way. I was just surprised to read in today's evening news that some city fans were questioning him already. Just because he hasn't played much? We knew he hadn't had much pre season, and then he went off on international duty, twice. He was always going to be a bit behind the rest of the squad in terms of sharpness. I think Mancini was right not to throw him in before he was up to speed. If he had, and he wasn't doing the business, people would have been on his case and the pressure would have been even worse.
Now he's getting there in terms of match sharpness and in sync with his new team-mates, I have no doubt he'll be phenomenal, a star, a shooting star even.

you're exactly correct about his 'bounce-back-ability'. he has a superb all round attitude to the game.

he works non-stop to link and create.... keeps the ball, never plays team mates into trouble, always offers them an outlet, he is not burdened by an overwhelming need to be the star of the show.

the other major difference between him and Robinho, is that Silva's passing is extremely accurate, whereas Robinho was a dribbler who could barely kick a ball straight.

Disagree with that, I thought Robinho's passing was a cut above at times.

Played a lot better than he did against Timisoira.

I thought Barry was City's best player tonight, but good to see a few good individual performances and a great start to the Group.

The defence as a unit looks really strong

Up front we should be doing more damage - not surprising when we have Balotelli and Adebayor missing

im not worried about him adapting, will just take time.

he looks like a fiesty little bugger! :D

that creative spark we have been missing recently

hope he can reproduce it in the premiership...starting with wigan on saturday!!!!
