David Silva leaves City after 10 years

Great game from him tonight, we should ask him what he wants to stay another season free tapas for life anything he's too good to lose.

I wouldn't be overly happy if he fucked off to Japan or America tbh if he was going back home to play for his hometown team then I can get with that romance but the other way would make him a mercenary and let's face it he can hardly need the cash.
not directed at you personally as it is an oft used term in regards to football, and strangely not other sports, which in itself proves my point.
"mercenary" is the most fucked, ill-used word in this beautiful game. everybody is payed a different amount, and there are a myriad of factors that determine that from both the player talent side and the clubs requirement side, not to mention maybe a sentimental boyhood preference as well.
every player has the right to play both ends towards the middle to get the best deal for himself no matter what without having to answer to anyone for their decision.
If a club wants to try and buy trophies with all the best players within the rules, and players gravitate to that team for the cash, i say fair play to all of them.

100%. Mercenary is a ludicrous term for any footballer. They own their labour like we all do. Every player has different priorities...and as long as they perform to the best of their ability under contract they owe nothing to anyone.

Silva, at 5ft 3 in heels & 10 stone wet through, has played for a decade in the hardest league in the world. After 5 years in La Liga.

If he goes back to Las Palmas to be home and for boyhood romance, great.
If he and his wife fancy a year or two with kiddie in Japan/US and setting themselves and extended family up for life, great.
He's earned it.

We like a balance though. That means optimising earnings opportunity with reasonable regard to long term career considerations and whilst behaving decently. Someone who puts money above all else is rightly viewed as a twat. They are perfectly entitled to be a twat but a twat they remain.

I agree entirely about Dave. He’s been a model pro who has earned the right to make a free decision in the twilight of his career. (Other than becoming a rag or dipper, of course!) Good luck to the lad. We’ll always love him.

Met him yesterday in arguineguin, gran canaria at the sports ground where it all started for him. He brought the 4 trophies. Was a really nice guy and had time for everyone there
