Read the words carefully. They have not closed any agreement. This could simply mean that the deal has not been completed and that there are still negotiations (with the player and then a set-in-stone fee) ongoing within this deal.

They could have said that there was unofficial enquiries in the player but no negotiations or formal bid whatsoever, but they didn't. I think the wording is important in what they have said.

Still means that the reports that we signed Silva on a 4 year deal or agreed a fee with Valencia for him are bollocks.
Basically what Freestyler has been saying is right. We've not submitted a formal bid for Silva nor have we spoke to the him. However, we've informally talked numbers with Valencia and Valencia are allowing us to speak to Silva's agent.

The Daily Mail report was a little premature in the respect that not everything is agreed. The transfer will depend on Valencia sticking to their word on the fee (when we submit a formal offer) and it will depend on what Silva wants to do.

For now, in theory the deal should go ahead, but nobody other than Silva really knows what Silva is thinking, so it probably all depends on his options.

Basically that's what i've gathered from looking on the Valencia newspaper websites.

-- Wed Jun 23, 2010 10:13 am --

dear oh dear, silva deal is most definitely not dead in the water. even given a free choice, why would he want to stay at a Valencia once everyone else has left?

simple fact seems to be, Valencia are not in a position to turn down 20m+ for any of their players. they've held the wolf from the door for years, but now the creditors want paying.

he will leave thats for sure but he is just biding time praying that big clubs like madrid or barca revive their interest in him , if not he will look towards premier league clubs like chelsea and if they are not interested he might then think about us.IMO if he was that much interested in our club and project he would have signed by now , he is just sitting there in africa hoping that someone convinces mourinho to look towards him.
How can he sign when we haven't even submitted a formal offer?

our officials didnt go to valencia to have a cup of tea . of course they must have dicussed a price tag .even if we have submitted a formal deal , the player will wait to decide his move from other clubs failinh which he might consider us.From his last comments he doent look interested in joining us.

We cancelled the meeting with Valencia as far as i'm aware. All we have done is spoken about a fee, but we haven't submitted an offer nor have we spoke to Silva....as stated by the official from Valencia.

Can I ask, why when the media say somthing positive about city like this player is signing or that we are linked with x y or z, does everyone call it bollocks or bullshit? Yet when the same media say x y or z has "snubbed" us or has a better option, everyone takes it as gospal? The media lie either way so take the negative with the same pinch of salt you take the good news with!

Its getting quite interesting this. It seems that Valencia what to sell him to us as we are basically offering £9 million more than any other club for him (Fair play)

We are also offering the player double the wages he would get anywhere else.

Given the choice he would go to Real obviously and if he had to go to England Chelsea or Rags but can any other club offer the type of package we have ont he table in terms of fee and wages ? I doubt it.

Still cant see him wearing a city shirt hope I am wrong though !
