David Silva - official statement

So glad the club protected his private life from the media, and gave David the time needed to be with his family. We all wish him and his family all the best, and I Hope his son can one day grace a football pitch as elegant and skillfully as his old man has for us.

I just hope we can win the champions league whilst Silva is still with us. After he leaves us I hope the club can rename East stand to David Silva stand. Until that happens, I will cherish every moment I can remember on seeing such a fantastic player play for us.

Heartfelt best wishes to David and his family from me and my girls, who were born five weeks early a little over 17 years ago and spent two weeks in the SCBU; thankfully that was only because they were too young to suckle and just needed to be fed by tube. However, we also had a scare that they were coming even earlier. The emotion involved in these situations is hard to describe.

Anyhow, I know there's really only one place you want to be at times like this; although I'm pretty sure I did sneak off for a game at the Etihad too.

My son was born premature, he weighed in at just 1lb, after operation on his upper bowel and they had to try out a new drug to develop more white blood cells, after 4 Months he started to develop quite normally, he is now a 21 year old 19 stone Man City menace, premature babies take quite a while to develop in certain areas, but eventually come through this and in some cases start overtake, hope everything goes well for David and his family, I cannot thank st marys hospital for the amount of care dedication and duty

Hope you now understand why I have kept schtum.
It's not like he had a knock on his ankle.
As someone has said, it's a measure of the man he has still shown commitment to the team throughout.
He has conducted some Captain type talks and kept himself in trim by training daily courtesy of his friends at FC Valencia.
He flew back for the Newcastle game and within 2 hours he was on a return flight.
He will be touched by all your supportive messages.
Mateo will be fine if he shows the same fight his Dad does on the pitch.

I suspected this would be the issue after his Swansea celebration. Fingers crossed Mateo improves every day, and I assume he is getting better for David to shed light on the situation.

On a slightly unrelated note, doesn't his partner live in Spain? If so it is going to be hard for him in the future juggling his career and his family life. Tevez and Aguero at one point had similar issues.

Respect mancunial! Hope Magic Merlin reads this and realises how many go through similar trauma and come through it all really well. Go go Mateo!
