David Silva (Overated/Underated)

Over-rated on here.

Don't get me wrong, he's a very good player. However his final ball isn't great and he doesn't carry a big goal threat. That stops him from being world class.

His movement is fantastic though. He'd be a regular for any other team in the league.

This is the best post I have seen so far. This lad was the outstanding player at Euro 2008 and I expected at least an upgrade on Modric and Arshavin. Too many of his passes are " telegraphed" and he really needs more Goals. Nasri is much better.

The talent is there but we need another forward thinking player with him to allow him to flourish; a world class forward thinking midfield player or a wide man at the standard of Robben or (god fogive me - Nani) and we will get the best out of him.

Forgot to mention that the Nasri "puff" has Fabregas,Walcott and Arshavin with him.

Maybe I do David a disservice?

he's undoubtedly a great talent. Yet we must remember he's not played more than 30 games in England. He is still learning and adjusting all the time this is evidenced by his steady improvement throughout the season.

I believe in a year or two he'll be one of premier league's top players.

he's made at least 5 passes this season, only 2-3 people in the prem could do. west brom away he was unreal.

his latest one, half body turn and chip into the area for yaya toure first half against west brom, yaya should of smashed it first time, it was on a plate for him. no one saw that pass coming, not even the city players never mind west broms defence.

he needs to get more forward, mancini should let him off the leash i think. i love how he drops deep and goes forward, you just know once he get's within 30 yards of the net, he could spilt the opposition with a killer deadly ball.

Agree with ifiwasarichfan about him needing more help around him. Everytime he got the ball on saturday the only player he could play it to was Tevez. We need players who are willing to run in behind the defence which we havent got. Tevez likes to drop deep to get the ball, Dzeko looks average when the balls at his feet and add to that we dont have a winger on the pitch. We are missing AJ more than i thought but we need someone else on the other wing if we are only playing 1 striker. Balo may provide this because he ran in behind the WBA defence when scoring his 1st goal and who provided the ball? David Silva. Make more runs and he will be even better but atm that aint going to happen with the players we have.

Underrated. I think his role is more important to the team than Tevez's and he has the potential to become even better and add more to his game like goals. His touch, movement and passes are on a different level and he does his fair share of defending which i totally didn't expect from a player of his quality.

under rated - in the fact that he is our most important player. pulls all the strings.

however, for someone of his talent, he has missed quite a few sitters this season, (but so has tevez, tevez just gets more chances to make up for it). I just feel that if he added a few more goals to his game he would be one of the best players in the world.

edit: i already think he is one of the best players, jsut some more goals would be nice :) i think the lad deserves it

Agree completely with this assessment. I think playing on some of these shit pitches has effected his performances as well, as it seemed at crucial times he slipped around the box or had his final pass to create a chance knocked offline by a divot.

I also don't think playing off/with Tevez and even Yaya once he gets into the final 3rd is the easiest thing to transition into during your first season.
Hopefully Balo and Dzeko can capitalize on some of his service the rest of the season.
