Wrote a letter to the Valencia fans after signing for City...

Dear Valencia;

I do not want to miss a moment to express my gratitude to the heart in hand to the fans of Valencia. I owe much to this club and its people. I have been here since I was 14. I've been linked to this great institution, and during this time I have experienced and tasted the important moments of my life as football player and person.

The moment of parting I'm very excited. I get the best memories for the treatment and care received, and always accompany me proud to have worn this shirt. For me it was a great satisfaction to have been part of his great story.

I feel very connected to the club, the fans, the city and all the colleagues, technicians, employees and leaders with whom I have worked in these extraordinary years. I have given at any time by Valencia and compensation has been very great, huge.

I find it hard to say goodbye. I leave my house, where both the people of Valencia, as throughout the city have always treated me exceptionally not only me but my family.

For this reason, I would like to offer the world championship won with the national team, because without your support I would never have been possible.

The joys and triumphs will continue in Valencia, I have no doubt. And I'm glad of it. I always will love this team, its people and this city.

Amunt Valencia!

Very similar to the one Rooney wrote to BlueKipper and the ones Rio and Alan Smith wrote to Leeds fans. Cantona was persuaded not to bother as he didn't know any English words and the Leeds fans knew little of the gutter French from Marseilles - think Eric sent them a little poem of Rimbaud.

Classy player Classy guy

Did he give them his medal?

Wow, he gave them his medal. What a quality guy! At least he recognises that Valencia were the team that moulded him into the player he is today.

If he did indeed give them his medal then that's a lovely gesture from the man. He's obviously a very sensitive individual who knows just how the Valencia fans must be feeling, and by doing this he's showing he feels for them.

Mr Silva, I salute you, sir.
