The basis of this is that City would not get involved in "crazy bidding wars" on certain players. In return for this City would be afforded the luxury of not being over charged by these types of clubs when we come knocking for their players.

If so, how can £30m for Eto'o in the last year of his contract doesnt seem a realistic price to me, maybe around £5-10m to much!
Because Eto'o as it stands, if he had 3/4 years left on his contract would be a 50-60+ million player, and he is at the peak of his career. IM not saying were not paying a City "tax" at 30m. But i can understand why it is so high.
Dont forget with Eto'o you not just getting one of the worlds best strikers, your getting the african publicity and sales etc etc etc (which imo is priceless)
