As someone who actually commited this crime on here I have sympathy for them.
David Silva, David Villa - they have the same ring, its an easy mistake to make for a player that hasnt appeared much on british telly.
If they're still getting it wrong after Silva has played a dozen or so games get mad. Until then calm down

These are supposed to be experts though. If you've watched any La Liga over the past 5 years I don't see how you could possibly mix them up. Kind of like you wouldn't call Darren Bent "Marcus Bent", or Wayne Rooney "Wayne Bridge".

As I posted here on a thread t'other day- would these "experts" have made this fraudian slip if Silva played for Chelski, Scum, Arse or Red Scouse? I think not.

Disagree completely. Like I said, anybody who has watched either player with more than a passing interest just wouldn't make that mistake over and over again.
Together with the Ben Arfa debacle, Shearer simply doesn't watch European football outside of the CL games involving English clubs. For someone like that, it is an understandable slip of the tongue. But he is supposed to be offering his "expert views" on the show, and is paid a small fortune to do so.
