And his match day shirt to Gallagher! Rather strange I thought.
I think only the 18 man squad get medals on the day and then anyone else who has participated will get one later.
I just read the official rules (because I was bored) and you're right - they print 23 winners medals (officially called "souvenirs", apparently) and 23 for the runners-up. 18 are given to players, 1 to the manager, 1 to the club secretary, 1 to the club physio and two for extra non-playing staff. The club can pay for others to be printed, but only if the Management Committee (whoever they are) believe that the intended recipient deserves it.
I would assume that the clubs then distribute those 18 medals to the players with most game time, which is why Manu Garcia didn't get one despite scoring one of our goals.

Yep, because the club deemed him to have been one of their 18 top players in the competition, unlike Manu Garcia, who only played 20 minutes even though he did score a goal. That's what I was trying to emphasise.
