Nigel De Jong says he has no concerns over his ongoing contract situation with Manchester City, and insists he wants to stay at the Etihad Stadium.

The 26-year-old Dutchman has been the subject of widespread speculation with the combative midfielder's current deal set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

But De Jong is adamant he is happy with life under Roberto Mancini, and revealed how he wants to win trophies with the Citizens.

"There is no concern about my contract," he confirmed. "I have spoken my mind, it is up to the club to decide what they want to do now.

"I have been here for three years and I am happy."

City officials have made positive noises, which indicate they too want De Jong to extend his stay with the Barclays Premier League leaders, in a bid to bring further success to the club.

"I am here to win prizes," he continued. "We won the FA Cup last season, now we are doing well in the Premier League. For me there is no reason to move on."

was in one of this morning's papers

"There are no reasons to move on"

Other than the obvious one for a footballer........Money.

A defensive midfielder is never going to command a salary that a forward would get so it depends how much he wants.

Another club will probably pay £100k a week though if they get him for free so I expect thats what we will have to pay. It should have been nailed by now though so a bit of a worry as he is still an important part of the team.

Worst thought ever is that he is the type of player Ferguson would go for.

I seem to think Bobby might not want him unless he can't get an adequate replacement.
