De Jong: "There is no concern about my contract"

Yes he is entitled to ASK. The Club is entitled to counter. I believe that the Club's stance is valid. MORE than his.

Bridge, Bellamy, Santa Cruz, Tevez, Adebayor, Milner, Barry, all who have earned considerably more in recently more. Yet De Jong has contributed more than all of them put together and not once brought us into disrepute (Milner and Barry excluded).

I liked Nigel a lot, especially in a 3 man midfield last season but, sorry, that's bollocks.

Loyalty is a two-way street and he loves this club to bits. His existing role in the team is a different debate.

Why? Surely his role in the team is a major consideration when offering a new contract? As it is for any of our players. Have you considered the possibility that Mancini KNEW that his role would diminish this season as he moved the focus of our play into a more attacking mode (the Club could well be aware of this through Roberto and/or signings such as Aguero / Nasri / Silva /Balotelli/ Dzeko etc).

My comments above in blue...

De Jongs a top class player. Played in the World Cup final remember. Sure we don't need him when winning 1-5 at Tottenham and 1-6 at United but they are freak results when everything went right. I remember that performance he gave against Chelsea a few years ago. Awesome. When the going gets tough he will be one of the players I want on the pitch. We really need a B plan and for me that would be two fast wingers and DE Jong as an holding player.

Exactly. A Few years ago, doesnt fit in the present system.

Oh yeah at SB recently to protect or hold the 1 pt. ( and our undefeated season) with 15 mins to go who did we call in?

So are you suggesting that our undefeated winning & goal record this season that led us to top the table by 5 points was a fluke? Or is it because we have the right starting lineup?

At BM who did we call in the second half. Compared that to our performance in the first half (discounting the smash & grab fluke goals and biased refereeing).

Similarly at Wigan recently. After the substitution, were we holding or being dominated or being stressed or placed under more pressure? You tell me.

no other team will offer De Jong 100K a week. So if he wants to leave because 100K is not enough, then so be it.

Well............

By that logic, I could also say that no other team would pay what we pay any of our players (except Hargreaves :P).

I don't know why we don't just let the club iron out these things. Our opinion regarding his wages won't change anything at all really :/.

100K a week is incredible money...if me or any other of the bluemoon members were on these kind of wages i don't think we would know how to spend it.

The truth hurts, so i'm going to go out and say it. IMHO, Dejong is not worth 100K a week wages. I would be inclined to sell him.
Plenty of clubs out there need a player like him who can protect the back four. However he is just not up to city standards, especially with the new formation and attacking philosophy.
What i think is the best solution, would be to sell him in the summer for a fee of between 15-20million. Then sign a winger/attacking midfielder and make Milner the 3rd central midfield player.

Therefore we will have,
Silva, Nasri, Adam Johnson and Player X (as creative players)
and we will have,
Yaya, Barry and Milner (as centre mids)

Much stronger than what we have got now.

I've actually reached the point where I'd be disappointed if we don't sell de Jong in the summer. Nothing personal cos he's a top man and I'm not going to be bitter about any supposed input from joorabchin or Nige turning down our contract offer, I base my opinion purely on what I see on the ptich and I don't think Nige is up to it these days. He was pivotal for us and the way we played last year but it's totally changed this year and he simply isn't up to it in a two man midfield. People say 'he's the best at what he does' but we could sign the best joiner in the world who'd be the best at what he does, but like Nige he'd be pretty useless in a 2 man central midfield. Mancini's made our team so fluent these days and Nige is just so rigid and limited it's a waste of a player. People wet their kecks about how hard he is but I think he's weak as piss. Frimpong made him his woman at the emirates the other month. He's too weak to win the ball without sliding in, can't win a header, offers nothing going forward and because he can't keep up with play he doesn't even give us any decent defensive cover anymroe. Just gets caught 20 yards behind play then easily dummied as he dives in. People wanted Mancini to take the handbreak off and now he has they're going to have to deal with the consequences and one of those is that Nige can't fit in this team. To make an omelette you've got to break a few eggs and de Jong is one of those eggs I'm afraid. No room for sentiment in football, onwards and upwards
tbh Frimpong is a physical beast. he's very naive kid, but an absolute monster. had a great game when Wolves drew 1-1. De Jongs problem is very simple and has nothing to do with form. he is simply too limited. City is not the team they were last season in the eyes of the opposition. now City are feared and teams play ultra defensive against them. Him sitting infront of the defence and passing to nearest man is not enough. Teams will say ok let De jong have the ball, he wont do anything and most of the game he will end up marking empty space. if he ad more to his game and him and whoever plays in the middle could alternate going forward and make sure teams dont feel safe on any player having the ball, the team would be much better. but now every time he plays its like teams knows he wont do feck all offensively, so they just leave him alone and he still passes to nearest man.

De jong is not worth 100k, and if i was him I wouldnt even think about it and bite their hand off
