Started well, didnt misplace a sideways or backward pass. Faded a little in the second half. Was at fault for one of the goals.

Didn't think he was particularly good being honest; sloppy in possession, got turned and muscled off of the ball quite easily a few times, as said at fault for one of the goals. No need to offer more than the wages we already have imo. Sell if he doesn't accept, although would suit him better financially to get a fat lump next year if he signs for someone else.

He is and important player for us, was important in Hughes' team, was important in Mancinis first full season and his role became limited still was an important option last year when we needed him.

The fact he is not accepted an offer for new contract says we wanted him to stay for years but on lower wage as his role is limited not in the line up every match.

But if you are him or his agent you ask the question that Bridge RSc are on 80.000 or 90.000 per week, and you cant compare their role with De Jongs role in the team.

We fucked up the wage structure and if we want to end giving huge wages to fringe players or squad players too there will be players that will leave and it will be sad but is has to be done.

NDJ is a very good squad player for us, he can start matches he does his defensive duty every time on 100% he makes mistakes but he is working hard,
not very good going forward but when need to close the shop 1-0 up or 2-0 up he is useful from the bench etc.

We will have Rodwell for that role as things stand and NDJ will leave probably.
Good luck to him if it happens. It's a better way of leaving than stay one year and leave free. At least we get a small fee.

seems like the majority here don't want Nige extended .... fail post?

grabs coat

I think most people would be happy to have him in the squad, but not at the crazy wages he reportedly are asking for.

I think he wants to see his contract out,it very much suits him.
I think it would suit both parties. It gives us 12 months to seek a replacement. Nige will do a good job for us when called upon and then get a bumper pay packet at a new club.
