Why are certain players fair game to slaughter and others not. Lets face it at least 8 players were not at the races today including De Jong and Zabba who managed to give a goal away each.

Some players need more time than others to adapt to the Premier League. We need a box to box midfielder though who can compliment either Vinny or De Jong and of course superman.

Face facts, in Vinnie we've got a class act, de jong clearly not too greats.

Ps. Those 2 you named imho play in a more challenging role harder to adapt to.

Defensive midfielders shouldn't find it too difficult to mop up in any league they play in hth.

Wingers maybe don't need time, its just beat the man and cross no matter what league. However the most important part of a defensive midfielders game is reading the game and breaking up play according to that, they also need to learn what an acceptable challenge is, where they should cover etc etc.

again mate, just off the top of my head:

Mascherano was crap for WHU the 1st season
Hamann wasnt too good for Newcastle (or us) in his first season
Lucas at liverpool came with great promise, and is only now challanging for a place in their squad

I'll give you Masch he started off badly but did improve and he's in a different league to de jong
Hamman I can't remember but I'll dig out some stats
Find me on Liverpool fan who thinks Lucas is anything other than a disaster

Had an off day today. Sure he'll know that and he will come good. First half he was good. He just lost all composure in the 2nd half. Anyone else noticed that in most games he has ONE major error where he loses the ball and the opponents get a good attack in. Just watch out for it. What we have to remember is that he is no Mascherano or Essien, the lad is still young so he just needs time to adjust to the premiership firstly. Secondly, he has just come back from a terrible injury and is building up physical and mental game time. Finally, he's new to the league.

Give the lad time FFS.
