Lend me £10 and i'll buy you a drink.
This isn't going to be popular but I'm not entirely convinced by him. Granted when he plays well, he's fantastic but he never does it in games when we need him to do it. We don't really need a MOTM performance against shite teams we should be beating at home anyway. The games (usually away) when De Jong come up againts a scrapper he's been found wanting. He was terrible at Spurs and Fellaini made him look very average a couple of weeks back. As for todays performance the less said the better. I'm nt suggesting we drop him but something needs to be done. We can't be relying so heavily on a player whose performance not necessily dictates the result but at the very least goes a long way to deciding it.

I look forward to your thoughts, please no abusive comments, I can't be arsed with them.

agree with you mate. i think against the rags i counted he lost the ball 9 times. certainly not won me over just cos he looks like a cage fighter...

I was very annoyed after his first season here, or half season, and I thought it was madness to spend so much money on a player that has been injured for so long, and who could have cost peanuts in the summer. Then he had some nice matches this season, but overall, he's not stepping up when we need him, and is way way unstable.

This is a snippet from another post I made, it sums up my feelings on NDJ.....

"As bad as Barry and Ireland have been strangely despite being individually the best performer in the middle of the park this season it is NDJ that I see as the major problem because for me it just doesnt work when he is in the team. He sits far too deep and I just dont get what he is trying to do, he doesnt influence the attack and away from home he just doesnt influence the defensive side enough either. NDJ for me the the defensive midfielder equivalent of Robinho, you watch him and you know he has something that could make him a special player but when push comes to shove and you look at the evidence in front of you he just doesnt quite cut the mustard and much like the situation with Robbie it has a negative impact on the team."

Has only one bad game all season and now he's a target, heard it all now.

First name on the teamsheet every week after Tevez.

It's not one bad game though is it? It's a string of games where we've relied on him dominating the midfield and he's failed. His position is too important to turn in performances like todays.

*EDIT* Furthermore it's not like I just called him shit and demanded he gets sold, I'm aware he's talented but he's not consistent enough.

He's only had one good game for City.

agree 100% with this we dont keep the ball well with de jong in the team his effort and work rte cannot be questioned but whats the point of winning the ball if you then give it straight back

It doesn't help him playin alongside another midfielder who doesnt drive forward. De jong does the job he's there to do imo better than most other defensive mids in the league (win the ball and play it short). the problem seems to be that nobody then carries the ball forward, it always goes backwards to our full backs and so any counter attack we may have had is over before its started! With a creative box to box midfielder next to him De Jong would be awesome
