De Jong

That Chalkboard diagram is right, I just did it myself. However, if you do the same search on the previous games though it makes interesting reading.
Vs newcastle he only won 2 tackles as well, although he lost 3.
Vs Chelsea he made 4 and won all 4.
Vs Wigan he made 3 and won all 3.
Vs Sunderland he made 5 and won all 5.

Strangely though, the Newcastle game doesn't list his challenge on Ben Arfa as a tackle. I think that would have to go down as a tackle won.

According to this he doesn't tackle as much as it seems, and he rarely loses a tackle when he makes it.

Compared to a random player, like Mohammed Diame, who made 10 tackles against us for Wigan , and only won 4 of them, Or Phil Jones of Blackburn who made 9 and won only 4. He can hardly be called reckless. I find it hard to remember many times Nige has gone to ground and not come away with the ball fairly. I can remember many times when he has stayed on his feet and bundled and harried a player off the ball, or moved him away from a danger zone. He can still keep this part of his game, without fear of too much reprimand from whistle-happy refs, and his midfield distribution is also heavily under-estimated.

If he has been told to stay on his feet for a few games, he can still be an immense player for us.

Having watched the game in full here in the US, my original thoughts was that if Nige wasnt playing his normal terrier like, ball winning game for us then it was a waste of time him being out there........

But, after thinking about this, it was all about getting Nige back out on the pitch and shoving the proverbial 2 fingers up at the establishment, which Bobby lad deserves a huge pat on the back for IMO...Some other so called top managers would have 'rested' him, taking him out of the limelight and glare of the media (i.e. Baconface 'resting' Wooney rather than let him face the "abuse" at Goodison FFS!!) until the dust settled.

But not our Bobby, he was playing his best players and fook the rest of the world.........but not without a quiet word in NDJ's ear on the lines of "Nothing at al risky today Nige, just your presence will be enough son" and in doing so he 'got back on the bike' so to speak. Not a bad lesson in man-management here me thinks and after all, our Nige didnt have a poor game by any standards, somewhat quiet maybe, but his passing was pretty much spot on and it keeps the tiger caged and ready to go against the Arse this coming Sunday!

Well done City - you make me proud!!

this is football and we need to chant for tackles from him in the pitch and i believe he will deliver for us when we do so.possibly bring him back from is usual self.people lets call for more and rally behind no matter.

According to the Guardians Chalkboards it it. The City player who won the most tackles was Bridge, any guesses as to who was the second most successful tackler?

I cheated and looked. Adebayor!

And De Jong was the real man of the match last night, including one sliding tackle where I was glad the Poznan player moved out of the way....

I think it was a clever move by Mancini to make him captain, all we can do is show our appreciation and support and his confidence will come back. He put in some belting challenges last night.

think he had a point to prove last night and some of his tackles were bang on.think he did shy away a bit against blackpool.but defo not last night will do him good for sunday.
just look at these tackles 106
