I like this extract from his biography, but personally I think it may just be a ploy to get Stevie Ireland to sign his contract, as they are fairly similar players.
De Rossi was praised by referee Mauro Bergonzi after he had scored a goal with his hand in a match against Messina. Bergonzi allowed the goal until De Rossi showed a great piece of fair play when admitting to the referee that he had pushed the ball in with his hand, the goal was disallowed and Roma went on to win 2-1.

I'd be pretty happy should this be true (Though I doubt it- but there has been nothing in the media about it so that I guess is a good first step!) I've always liked De Rossi, and Mexes is a good player, certainly probably better then what we currently have. As for it being a ploy to get Ireland to re-sign, that is rubbish, for it is clear as day that we need to build squad depth. I'm not saying De rossi would be a squad player at all, but you get what I mean! Until we have a squad with lots of options, we aren't going to go anywhere fast.
