The best players make the right decision for the team more often.

One reason why Messi is a better player than Ronaldo and has several more trophies to his name despite being the younger player.

I believe Messi has more club goals and way more assists than Ronaldo. If you add in internationals etc, Ronaldo has a few more goals but still lags on goals per game.

BTW, I don't think Leroy makes the best decision often enough and that includes not running with the ball enough.

Messi has a free role too.

The fact that he has been tapped up since may and as of sunday he still hadn't asked pep to leave says to me he doesn't want to leave
Although it’s possible that his mum told Txiki that he wants to leave

Not sure abut that.

Much easier to hold out on signing the contract, when you are injured & can't play anyhow, rather than potentially missing games because of it, imo.

He is now going to be sat around, with the German rags tapping up his family & making illegal approaches to him, then when he returns, he has only one year left, so not just the rags, but all the other teams can start on him & City have to consider whether to cash in, if he hasn't signed.

If he holds out for this season, we probably have to make him available for bids.

Imo, if he doesn't sign in the next few months, we probably won't see him again for City.
I very much doubt any club would now make him the sort of offer BM were putting together following this type of injury until 100% certain he returned to his pre injury level.
If City show him some love and stand by the much improved offer already put to him (likely to be as good as any he will be offered by others) he would be gambling big time not to accept the financial security of it.
Better a bird in the hand than two in the bush....

I doubt Bayern would have made him the kind of offer Bayern were making him either.

But if his plan was to see if City gave him more playing time, before signing the contract, that 'trial' period has effectively gone now.

So he is left with the choice of signing a new deal on the hope that City will play him more often or just seeing out his contract.

Txiki would have told pep shirley, the brief we put out said 135m and he has to ask to leave,i'm going to make an assumption and give him some credit rightly or wrongly but i think he would tell pep if he wanted to leave, now the whole situation just got a whole more complicated, god knows how this be resolved

Contracts, of course protect both club and player. Leroy seems to have two choices now: continue with his current contract on relatively low wages, see out his contract and hope that BM or another will give him a bumper deal. Players with ACL problems rarely get stunning deals. A 5 year deal on mega money seems much less likely this week than last. Alternatively, he can sign up to the offer made by City. If he does that then the club takes all the risk that he doesn’t recover well and returns a lesser or injury prone player. A tough choice for a young player.

Txiki would of course tell pep. But pep would still be able to say that Leroy hadn’t told him that he wanted to go. And saying that he has to ask to leave might mean that he has to do more than ask his mum to tell Txiki.

I’m not saying that’s what has happened, just that it seems normal for transfers to be conducted one step removed so that the player and manager can deny it right up to the last minute

Wanting to go and choosing to go if given the opportunity aren’t the same.players that want to leave will ask and agitate. My guess is Sane is relatively happy with us, but if Bayern had made an acceptable offer and he was given a choice he’d have chosen Bayern.
What happens now though is anyones guess.
