Out of interest @franksinatra , how do you feel about Bayern's role in this saga ?

To be honest mate there is no doubt there has been an aggressive campaign to encourage him to move but I do think a lot of it in the media is overblown and not that influential.

The reason I say that is the real lobbying goes on behind close doors, speaking to his agent, family etc, bayern players talking to him at international duty etc. It

Its disappointing but cannot say I am that surprised or that bothered in all honesty. Just the way football is sadly. When we pick up a kid this year out of the Barca academy we will have been courting them similarly behind close doors.

OK thanks.

For what it is worth , I believe that BM are the major driver behind so much of the shit we have incurred from UEFA and media, and the Sane saga is just a way of them demonstrating their power and influence.

I would not be surprised if they forced Low's hand in not selecting Leroy for the World Cup. Leaving Leroy out is one of the most perplexing decisions I've ever seen. It only makes sense in terms of keeping transfer value down. If he goes and tears it up at the world cup he is a 100m player

That’s a very good point mate, his exclusion from selection made zero sense then and now.

Whatever the thinking behind his non selection, they were a very poor team at that World Cup, and not to have Sané even on the bench was as you say perplexing.

I certainly see merit in your thinking.

Bayern ( like the rags and dippers here ) weild so much power and are used to getting their own way in Germany and are a powerful enemy.

Their hierarchy appear to be " teflon coated " as far as UEFA and law enforcement agencies are concerned . Corruption and arrogance make good bed partners,

I think it’s a pity for both Sané and City that he’s leaving. Bayern are getting a brilliant footballer but not quite the finished article. A few more seasons under Pep would have got him close to world class. Don’t think he’ll kick in as much in Germany.

City are losing a game changing winger with incredible dribbling skills. We have to replace him somehow whether that’s with Jesus and buying a new forward or buying a new winger I don’t know.

We have a brilliant system but sometimes when it’s not working you need to have something different. Sané gave us that. I think we’ll need someone who be an occasional game breaker next season. We’ve missed it this season.

I would not dispute that. All what matters in football is self-interest and so undoubtedly Bayern will be advocating against us, as will other clubs with a lot to lose.

I think we are totally on the right side of the argument re:FFP and I hope that is for altruistic reasons not because on this occasion it suits us to fight the battle against the cartel.

I accept that self-interest is endemic and that City will have no doubt been guilty of using contacts or the influence of Pep as a way to entice players from Barca , RM or other Spanish clubs to sign for us.

But imo we are a long way from using the type of tactics adopted by Bayern , and I hope that we never stoop to those levels. I would however make an exception if we were to take one of their valued players from the Bavarian bastards - just to let them see how it feels .

The FFP battle really is one which we need to win .

I agree Bayern come across as a pretty disdainful club and as an outsider, looking in, not someone I would want to support. I do think we are better, much better, unquestionably.

Actually Bayern is not home. Sane is home in the west of Germany. And I do not know if it is not easier for him to live in England than in Germany. What might feel more home to him are some of the players he knows for ages like Goretzka, Kimmich and Gnabry. His father might like that his old coach Gerland is the assistant again - and Flick who he knows well is the coach.

Of course it's his home it's Germany and he is German, but disregarding that it doesn't matter, he wants off and off he should jolly well go. I hold no bad feeling towards him because the days of having local lads in abundance in a football club have well gone.
