Good summation (though his father is Senegalese). Probably because we don't want to operate in a similar fashion, and because if we did Bayern would no doubt report us to UEFA , who would in turn be only too happy to charge us with " tapping up " .

Not a chance any player worth their salt signs a 5+1, the 'optional year' contracts are for players who are crap but the clubs keep them around. Why on earth would someone like Bernardo give the ability to the club to trigger a non negotiable extra year to his contract.
