Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

It doesn't even need to be inside information, the club is on record that a new deal was proposed 16 months ago, during that time Sane has changed agents three times and ceased even speaking to us since last summer about any possibility of reconsidering.

Respectfully, I don't quite understand your last point.

£70m is indeed a great deal of money and is the difference in what we have lost in terms of his market value since last year.

Next year we get nowt, simple economics.

Even accepting our new £150k a week offer at the time of presenting it, our outlay was £7.2m a year. He has deliberately forsaken the best part of £10m in wages to cost our club closer to £70m when this finally plays out.

It's okay though, he'll get at least that back in his pocket from Bayern in terms of his signing on fee, before an even bigger salary.

As for his dignified silence and stance, sometimes actions speak a thousand words.

His continual stalling of talks, his sacking of various agents and, most pertinently, his very public snubbing of City by refusing to use our recommended club surgeon.

I am a huge fan of Sane, always have been.

It will be a sad day for me when he leaves but leave fandom shit at the door.

We support the club, gave him a platform to perform for the best manager in the world, winning plenty trophies along the way.

There would be more respect from many for Leroy if had simply stated last year he wanted to go home and Bayern would be the natural choice for him.

Cynically, he wouldn't do that, for the reasons above, he needed to play his part in driving the price down.

We can't rely on him on the field because we can't trust him.

Professionalism doesn't come into it, he's shown a distinct lack of it on numerous occasions.

Hopefully he can put on a brave face when we beat those entitled Bayern bastards in the final.

That's if he can take his head out of his arse first.
Allow me to play devil’s advocate

“a new deal was proposed 16mths ago”

Maybe he felt the deal undervalued him

“changed agents 3 times”

if the incumbent couldn’t get him the deal he wanted it would be normal to change agents

“ceased speaking to us since last summer”

he didn’t want the proposed deal so there’s nothing to be said unless we make him a new offer

“needed to play his part in driving the price down”

circumstances are driving the price down, City’s refusal to pay him what he wants is just as big a factor in his dwindling value

no longer playing devil’s advocate, with respect I take issue with you saying we can’t trust him on the field. He has his ups and downs like any player but I’ve never seen him not trying and there’s no reason to believe he would deliberately let us down in a game if that’s what you’re implying ?

I know you are only playing Devil's advocate, as stated.

16 months ago he had accepted our terms and said he would be signing once his girlfriend had given birth

He changed his agent for the third time only three months ago, yet neither they or previously, David Beckham's firm, had chosen to reprise negotiations.

I'll amend what I said, we can't trust him on the field because we have already established we can't trust him off it.

Circumstances have driven down the price, but he determined those circumstances even before his injury, to the extent a player of his age and potential, with five years left on his contract, rather than the two years he did have left last summer, would be worth considerably more than the money on offer from Bayern last year.

Bayern would not have even been emboldened to try and approach us in those circumstances, but the circumstances were facilitated by Sane and them working the situation to their advantage.

The injury last summer simply compounded the financial loss we were facing already.

Thanks for the reply, you obviously have some inside knowledge so I’ll take what you say at face value.

Regardless, I don’t hold this kind of thing against him. He’s young, he’s just had a kid, he’s german, the biggest club in Germany and a European institution want him to play for them - I can see why he’d want to go. He’s not a blue, football’s a business, he doesn’t owe us anything - certainly not loyalty.

If he goes, good luck to him. I’ll remember the good times and always think of him fondly.

I don't think we can play him again and if he's smart he wouldn't want to play for us again.

If he were to do the same injury again, or another bad one, Mendy and Gundogan say hi, then he leaves on a free at the end of his contract, and we lose a small (by his true worth) but not insignificant sum.

And good luck getting Bayern to stump up the promised Benjamin's in that scenario Leroy.

There is also an argument that if he proves his fitness it only strengthens our case with bayern that he has recovered.

Yep, my only disappointment is that he wasn't genuine with City or the fans in this entire process.

Nobody would begrudge a young lad wanting to go home to their biggest club.

I'll say this, would you really want all this in Leroy's head if he had to take a penalty in a shoot out against Bayern at any stage left this season!

Hopefully Leroy has a late change of heart, as the market conditions are now completely removed from what they were just three months ago.

United are increasingly resigned to not getting what they want for Pogba and that is impacting their own spending plans.

If the CAS decision does go our way, perhaps he will see there are very few clubs who will be able to thrive in the immediate years.

Personally, and speaking as a Mancunian too, I just think the city might not be enough for him much more, a bit like Mario decided in the end.

Be nice if he ends up staying but I hope he has a more stable career than Mario has had if he goes.

Regarding penalties, if he’d just found out his girl had been sleeping with pep and the kid wasn’t his and the whole dressing room had known all along I’d still fancy Leroy to have more chance of scoring than most of our team.

Your points are excellently made. When you stopped playing Devil's Advocate you added the important opinion that he would not deliberately let us down in a game which is where I was so disappointed by tolmie's reference to not playing him against Bayern.

Thank you for your reply. I am far too old to be stuck in "fandom shit". I asked if you have inside information and you have not answered that question, yet to write that you would want him kept away from a game with Bayern, that "we can't trust him on the field because we have already established we can't trust him off it.", "16 months ago he had accepted our terms and said he would be signing once his girlfriend had given birth", those comments if factual would only be known by someone "in the know" so it would be good to know your perspective, considering how critical you are of his character and integrity. He was advised to go to Dr Fink in Innsbruck, a knee specialist by Dr.Müller-Wohlfahrt who would have treated him long before he came to City. Believe me as a cancer patient, when your future is in doubt going to a doctor you trust is far more important than worrying about who you snub. City bought him for €52 million app., he hasn't had a pay rise because he didn't sign the new contract, if he stays, injury free & virus permitting he will play until 30.6.2021 as one of the lower paid players, look on the bright side, he might score the winner against Bayern or just help to get us to add a few more trophies before he goes for free next year, or go for € 40+million this season, either way it will have been worth watching him.
