I think we can all appreciate that Leroy Sane on his day is a formidable and thoroughly exciting old style winger, he has enough tricks but focuses mainly on running at the full back using his electric pace and balance and make those one-on-one situations look simple to overcome. It’s no surprise City want to tie him down to a longer contract if he continues to improve and learn under Pep.

I’m sure he won’t be happy about sitting out some big games lately, that’s fair enough, not many top players would be and I’m sure a switch back to Germany to play for Bayern is a possibility in his head. I think he does show petulance at times, not that the type he displays is a big problem, just more likely to be seen in a teenager rather than a player that is now 23 years old. A misplaced pass, or if he gets ignored out on the left you see his arms go out and then a reluctance to chase the wayward pass intended for him. These aren’t insurmountable behavioural issues.

He obviously wants to play more, I’d imagine next season there may well be more opportunities for him if Bernardo plays more centrally (in David’s position more frequently) and Raheem plays more on the right. While Sane will be disappointed, he can’t grumble too much with the players that have been selected ahead of him as both Sterling and Bernardo have been fantastic. He needs to see what those two players have done and replicate the effort and productivity and he’ll force his way in more regularly. Don’t want to see him move away from the Etihad yet, but he has to understand the expectancy levels and raise his game even further, he has the tools in which to do so.

Agree with nearly all this, but seeing Mahrez get picked ahead of him must be like a kick in the bollocks.

As I watched Spuds ping endless balls over our midfield for Son to chase it did occur to me that we seldom do the same for Leroy, playing to his feet rather than allowing him to use his pace. The number of times on Saturday he gestured for the ball when it was still in our half.
I hope he doesn’t go and do wish that Pep gives him a proper crack of the whip. He obviously is trying hard. His battle to get the ball back when he first came on was a good demonstration that he want to be the player Pep wants him to be.

Agreed. That selection I presume is made when Pep wants Sterling to stay on the left, Mahrez, in theory, plays a better game down the right than Sane.

There is one black cloud on the horizon. I am hoping it is a mirage but it looks awfully real to me and that is the departure of Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich. He is a big part of our success and was to have been absolutely central to our future. I feel he is already half way out the door. Perhaps I just fear the worst.

City have got some storm force tsunamis possibly heading our way over the Summer and we needed our key young players to sustain us. I fear the worst in his regard.

Get a grip man.

It's only in theory because we've never actually tried Sane on the right. Based on this season, I can't imagine he'd be any worse than Mahrez though.

While we clearly haven’t seen the best of Mahrez he does look more comfortable on the right than Sane imo, looks happier bringing the ball inside or stepping over and taking it down the line. His game just looks more suited to playing on the right, not to say it wouldn’t ever be worth trying Sane there from the start.

Hopefully Sane will stay, he has the talent to be one of the best in the years to come.
i hope they're spent at City

Why do you say we let him go, we have no choice , it’s entirely down to him.I’ve no idea on other options but then 6 months before we bought him I’d never heard of Sane either.
Ultimately it’s up to him but it seems he’s been given the cold shoulder. He gets 10 minute cameos where Gundogan who openly wants out is given full games. Bernardo should be first choice but you’d think he’d play Sterling, Sane, Bernardo which most think is our strongest lineup. His output has probably improved since last year and I’ve never had a problem with his work rate. If this really is just because he ‘looks moody’ or losing the ball (our entire team presses, it shouldn’t be an issue, especially if we had a competent defender behind him) than we risk losing a £100mil asset for next to nothing.
