By all accounts that was a release clause. Like Neymar that isn't indicative of his value, just how badly each club wanted to sign them.

That’s a snide question from a snide journalist relating to City. It isn’t evidence of the press hating Pep because they don’t and anyone suggesting they do is in cloud cuckoo land.

He is pretty much universally eulogised by the media in the UK.
