Anyone else thinking the der speigel crap that was about last season was partially driven to weaken city and unsettle sane (and potentially gundo whos also reneging on a new deal). Not a coincidence that we’ve been targeted by german media and then our two most unsettled players are german

No, not at all. I often read it on here, but I think Der Siegel as part of a European leaking network (Reuters being part of)
has absolutely nothing in common with one of the biggest players in European football of the last decades, which are targeted in general.

Der Spiegel is publishing a permanent negative newsflow against Hoeness, since ages. It's more than absurd that the traditional, politically conservative, industry-sponsored arrogant mia-san-mia club could have any link to an investigative network that tries to cover up how money is taking full control of football in a way that many fans in many countries don't want anymore.

You can't put a German media outlet and a German club together and (as much you may hate Germany) it makes a close link.

Actually, as much as you hate to agree, Man City and Bayern as European top clubs have much more in common than Bayern and Der Spiegel.
We are in the same market, driven by big sponsors and tv rights on a worldwide platform which is entertaining people who are watching.

And why sign the prime of your life away to a manager who has issues with you (at best) and who leaves you on the bench, subs you on on 90 minutes and subs you off first. Whilst you're being paid much less than you could earn elsewhere?

Just playing devil's advocate here.

If Pep had played Sané more often, I don't think this thread would exist, he'd have re-signed ages ago.

Or maybe he wouldn't .

Apart from the player and his agent(s) , none of us know and it is clearly supposition on your part . It may all be the negotiating strategy which the player's reps feel will achieve the best outcome, assisted by the " tapping up " of Bayern , being the arrogant cnuts that they are, helping to muddy the waters.

Nonsense, the club is set up to run the same whoever the manager is,we have a young team growing together,we will continue to buy who fits and not for their name

its funny that this pep thing being a life after will never be the same ???

look the club back in 2013 took the choice to change things and even getting rid of a manager who just won the title and FA cup the season before in mancini ?? and in knowing the setup was for pep to come in at some stage himself, the club new the foundations was to get the team playing from the back and the keeper like in spain

yes pep was a key part and nobody can say without doubt he is a master but the club can and will go on without him

Agreed, none of us know. But we can speculate based on reasonable assumptions and the behaviour of 100's of players in 100's of contract renewal situations.

And it's reasonable to speculate that if Sané had been playing as often as Laporte, then he'd be more inclined to re-sign with us, compared to the actual situation where he may very well be worrying about how much game time he's likely to get. With good reason, I might add.

Not related to Sane but I have wondered. Why do Bayern, out of all clubs, hate us? I mean we never had a rivalry with them and if I am not wrong they started talking crap about us before Pep joined.
Started chirping, I believe ,when we first qualified for the Champions league, probably seen the coming threat, got worse when they tried to sign Jerome Boteng and obviously got even worse after we got Pep.

It started with them the first time we got into the CL as they didn't like us buying our way in, they've been at it ever since, commenting on how we got our money.
