Dear mumsnet

I wish normal names would come back.

When I was at school boys were called David, Andrew, Peter etc, and girls had names like Susan, Jane and Anne.

Then the middle classes went all pretentious and silly with names like Joshua, Alfie, Emma, Isobel and Poppy while the lower orders went all chavvy with names like Brandon, Connor, Demi-Lee and Kayleigh.

There's no such thing as an abnormal name, just cycles of popularity.

For instance, the name Milo might sound off the wall to some, but the name dates back to Roman times. It pre-dates the names that you think are 'normal'

Reuben

OP probably won't take any advice from a dumb tattooed person like myself though.
