i'm not going to be able to top this one today

A lot of folk getting twitchy after this latest miss-out
But I'm very chilled, relieved even. Knowing that we pulled out when the bidding went north of our limit is reassuring. The club is in good hands.
I don't believe Rice is a 100m player in any aspect. Time will tell, though.
Whomever we get in will be top.

Amazed by our actions, something must be going on for the sudden change.
You think? I think it's the familiar pattern of - put a bid in, and if the player wants to move to City it happens.

If he allows a bidding war then he's not 100% committed to moving to City.

Like sancho, sanchez, Fred, jorginho, Ronaldo etc. I think we weed out the mercenaries from the 100% committed.

I do wonder, do we only like to get into transfers that are uncontested via either a release clause or a quick agreement with the player before any other club has the chance to come in? We never seem to like to get our hands dirty and fight amongst other clubs for a target.

Our first bid was never going to be accepted and we knew that, so was this lady correct all along??

I’m not sure we did know that… I think we maybe thought our terms were more favourable to West Ham and so we bid what we we’re willing to bid. Arsenal then went in at £105m and we moved on. Nothing more than that. I’m sure we’ll have other targets and it’s all a bit of fun to watch it play out.

Not with the first bid we put in, that was never going to be accepted, looks like Txiki has played them good and proper.

100m was always a very high price for the player but we were never going to get him for less.

Reading the comments under the Rice to West Ham article in the Daily Mail, the majority of the Arsenal fans aren't happy about the £105mill transfer fee, a think Arsenal have been taken to the cleaners by West Ham.
Article comments are generally the best place to find sane and fully representative comments.
