Declan Rice

I’m pretty relaxed about this tbh. Will be chuffed if we get him, but not gutted if we don’t either. As City fans we should know by now to trust the process. If it’s not Rice, it’ll be someone else similarly good. They don’t get many transfers wrong.

I am the same. Although I wouldn't say I was chuffed to get him. I would be happy we got a player valued by the league, but I would put him in the Calvin Phillips group that needs to prove he can get to Peps level.
West Ham, no matter what they have won, is not near to our level.
And that is why I think he's Arsenal bound. He doesn't strike me as a player to reach much higher than he already is at.

Bookies now saying 1/2 he goes to Arsenal
So as they have upped their bid
Imo he may go there
Despite City's success
We shall see

I think one or two posters are coming across as being a bit entitled here.
Absolutely nothing wrong with Rice wanting to stay in London.
Also Arsenal do have a bit of pull albeit they are not treble winners.
12 years ago we sold a plan to several very good players despite having won fuck all for decades. They could have gone elsewhere but became legends of our club.
If Rice comes to us and we continue to win things he will be in a long line of latter-day heroes.
If he goes to Arsenal and wins the League he'll be a legend there.
I say this all the time. If top players only ever moved to the existing winners, how did Man United lose their dominance form the 1990's and early 2000's?

I still think we will sign him. I do believe the reason City haven't bid is because Arsenal are Rice's first choice, and you will not bid unless our move for him completely breaks down and we will put ouy, leaving you as the only other option for a summer 2023 move.

And should Rice join, he would be playing with Saka, Saliba, Martinelli, Odegaard. I dont know why people think next years league has already been written, or that a move to Arsenal is regressive.

Yeah that's a really stupid argument, arteta has got 3 months tops if they start the season how they ended the last one with those fickle mard arses.
Except for the fact we stood by him despite finishing 8th consecutively. Now the rebuild is in its infancy, and we bin him after three months should our start of the season not go as expected?

Completely misguided analysis of Arteta and Arsenal
