His dad is his agent so I wouldn't expect there to be any wise tactics at play. This is a huge move for him, pivotal to his whole career. I wouldn't anticipate his father risking it by trying to push fees up. His son is about to earn far more than he was and he could have left a few years ago if they were bothered about cashing in on him.
I believe what you say was once true, but it isn't anymore. The PR campaign around him staying in London has been strong, but City have clearly had the nod or we would have walked away. We don't waste time.
We bid for Kane, the price kept rising, we walked away. It could happen here too, but in both cases the players have given their support for the move and our bid remains much stronger than Arsenal's buy now pay never scheme.
Interesting that his Dad is his agent. Usually in that type of situation, you'd expect winning medals to have more significance than otherwise, given it's a labour of love and the people involved have been there since the beginning. We can give him a guarantee of playing in a world club cup, and we will be at least joint favourites for the CL next season again, something Arsenal can't match no matter what.
As a northerner turned Londoner with a few West Ham friends, I can also confirm that fans of the London clubs all despise Arsenal. I didn't realise how deep it ran until this season when they all proactively brought it up to me. For all the talk of 'staying in London' being important, nobody's mentioned that factor.
