First of all Brazil has given the world cafu , carlos , lucio , maicon , thiago silva etc i can go and on . Brazil has a great track record of producing great defenders . Also at 24 Dede can only get better . Promising young defenders are ALWAYS treasured because on the long run they would become world class defenders . That's why Fergie spent 30M on Rio and Chelsea spent 25M on Luiz . They were clearly investing for the future and we need to do that right now as Lescott isn't getting any younger.
Have you ever seen him play? On a regular basis?

Or are you just a transfer junkie?

Yeah i am a transfer Junkie . Actually i would love to see Ronaldo here as well as etoo and ibrahimovic Ohhhh add Ozil to that list too
So you complain about Lescott's age (29) yet would want two 30+ year old players brought in..

At who's expense might I ask?<br /><br />-- Jun 24th, '12, 18:56 --<br /><br />

BTW if i haven't seen him play i wouldn't speak about the quality he posses and those he lacks . He isn't the finished product but he is REALLY promising .
So, you have seen him play on regular basis or not?

You probably wouldn't believe me anyway but i have seen him play . He is totally rough just like Luiz was last season but he's really promising . Where we would have a problem is working on his speed . Although i must say he looks older than 24 (I'm not saying he forged his age though) . He has been on the market for sometime , about 2 seasons ago i think Udinese wanted to bring him in as a replacement for Zapata but the price wasn't right . I don't know VERY much about him but i have seen him play .

Manchester City are interested in Brazilian defender Dedé and have contacted the player's agent. Could leave for £10M-£12M. He's a monster.

@Citizens_ His agent confirmed.

Big news! Dedé's agent reveals that his client would leave Cruzeiro for a fee between £10M-£12M. Barcelona should be all over this. Bargain.

"Dedé’s agent Giuliano Aranda told Esporte UOL that he had received contact from Manchester City but not Manchester United."

They say:
"The player's agent, Giuliano Aranda, contact the UOL Sport revealed she has received a contact from Manchester City by the player, not Manchester United. "

And:
"The defender signed for Cruzeiro Vasco and became the most expensive player in the history of the club. The celestial board disbursed about U.S. $ 14 million for 45% of the economic rights of the player. Despite speculation, the defender must remain at the club until at least the end of the Libertadores and World Cup since being drafted by Scolari is your main goal in the season."

His ownership is a bit messed up though:
<a class="postlink" href="http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1608944-why-premier-league-target-dede-is-staying-in-brazil" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1608 ... -in-brazil</a>

"However, there is another winner in all this—investment company DIS. Dede's ownership is not a simple setup, with Cruzeiro simply purchasing much of the 45% of the player's economic rights owned by Vasco. The overall value of the player in this transaction, then, is closer to €11 million.

DIS will retain their own 45 percent stake in the player, as will separate financiers Agility with their remaining 10 percent stake. DIS, though, who own rights to several famous Brazilian talents, will join Cruzeiro paying some of €5 million fee and, in turn, increasing their ownership of the player.

Thus, the club save some money and obtain a standout defender, while DIS increase their ownership of one of their most valuable assets. With the English FA forbidding third-party involvement in player ownership, this move represents their last chance to maximise their profit.

Assuming Dede's value does not drop below its current €11 million level, DIS stand to make a further profit on their increased investment. Given the figures that have previously been quoted for Dede, that should be a mere formality."
