Defender, winger, striker?

Hummels looks immense.

2 things, one, in that clip, did you notice how few goals were scored from his wonder passes.

two, would he leave champs league for us?

He looks very good with the ball from that clip
 
Better on the ball than the likes of Pique (imo overrated).

Hummels is a great player, but a luxury.

Lescotts been class this season wouldn't say he's done much wrong IMO he has been better than Kompany.

I seem to recall a handball that cost us points at Liverpool.

Edit....sorry that was the game he scored on us. The handball that cost us points was in the Chelsea game.

Lescotts been class this season wouldn't say he's done much wrong IMO he has been better than Kompany.

Can he defend though? Heard a bit about him but never actually watched him. Someone mentioned he was slow?

So we are going to spend over 10 million for a quality defender for cover for 4 games? - 2 of which are League Cup games, so if he is cup tied, that will be 2 games....

Hummels would take the defense too a new level imo.

Speed

Hummels is faster then lescott no doubt about it, but so is a truck.

Tackling

Lescott is a good tackler, he get away with a lot because of his physique, but world class players would annihilate him with quick and nimble feet. He often turns to an all out tackle, he either gets it, or completely miss the tackle, where as hummels is tackling with his brain.
He often makes the attacker make the mistake and then punish him for it.
He got a great awareness and good anticipation.

Arial

Lescott wins this one, no doubt. Hummels is strong and tall but no one can match lescott in the air. But i would say hummels is very good in the air compared too most defenders.

Passing.

in a rating from 0-10 Lescott would get a 0 and Hummels 10.
Hummels is simply the best passing defender at this moment in the world, no buts.

I think overall hummels suit our style of play very well.
Often we pass the ball around too much because we got no one wants too make the important pass, and often we are having a hard time finding a free silva or nasri, and therefor barry or yaya has too come down and get the ball forward.

I think it would help Kompany too a great deal too since he always have too clean up for lescott when he makes a mess of things..
 
we could really use a striker on loan, but with Mancini's rather elegant tastes I don't know of one that would be available to be borrowed for a few months..

Sorry. But that is wrong. Compared with a lot of defenders that might be. But - it is the difference in passing skills that keep him from the secure spot in the German Squad compared to Badstuber. And it is pretty normal that Badstuber is better in this category as Badstuber is an ex defensive-midfield-player (still in the Under-19s) as Hummels has been a forward until the U17 and was remodeled than. Badstuber even does good standards.

So he is probably a 7 or 8 in this category but not a ten.

But you forget one thing about him. He is pretty good in going forward and scoring goals at standards. In the last season he scored 5 goals.

So does Lescott too imo. He bangs in about 5 goals too each season if he starts in them all.

But i still believe Hummels is one of the top 3 passers in the world if u only count Centerbacks in it, at least.
 
I just wanted to correct you with the passing. That is the thing Badstuber is better in. I like both. I think Hummels overall defender skills are better than that of Badstuber.

We live in a time when a goal keeper is not only judged by his skills to keep the goal clean, in which a defender does not only have to defend and in which a forward has defensive tasks...
 
badstuber is a great passer of the ball for a centre half however hummels edges it in the passing department and also is a better defender, we need to get him in, richards, hummels, kompany, clichy would be a fantastic back four!
