Mcqtee is a really interesting make weight. Proven prem play for a lower league side but if you get the best out of him you could end up having ripped of city completely which would make it appealing considering so many of our kids we got rid of are now the best in their teams.

We need to put a buy back clause when we sell Youth players, it’s easy to say now with hindsight but we should have put a £100M buy back clause on Palmer, how much is he worth now!!

He’s the best manager in the world but I wish Pep would give more opportunities to youth players, how many times have we been thrashing a team and Pep only gives them a few minutes.

Oh I agree completely. When pep leaves we know we can't get a better manager, but I'd like to see us bring in someone good with integrating academy players. Its the one quality I think we could find in a manager that would take the stung out of losing pep. Not sure I articulated that particularly well.

…we couldn’t play without Fernandinho and we can’t play without Rodri, we offer no midfield protection to our defence, teams cut through us like a hot knife through butter,

…we started the season with no backup for Rodri, now we have no one to play that position (I don’t think Kovacic is the solution) I feel like I’m going mad, the only signing that would excite me is someone to fill that hole!

..If I’m missing something please enlighten me? I need some encouragement as results affect my mood!

At least I did pay attention when we won matches without Rodri but the defenders still fit. We had an unexpectedly strong start to the season even without Rodders.
Don't you listen to Pep talking about our full defence missing out injured?
Certainly I might be wrong about a DM, I just have that feeling.

Priority is the most important so will take longer the club realizes it is paramount that they get this position right.Especially after the mess up transfer of phillips .

Walker is going this window so Cambiasso replaces him.

The dm will be one of tchouameni , baleba , ederson.

Someone who can play as a #6 and a #8 (though not at the same time!) would be a terrific addition. Maybe Ederson is that player, but I doubt Atalanta will move him on at midseason when they have so much at stake right now. I think Douglas Luiz on loan (probably with a firm commitment to purchase at season's end) may be the most likely outcome.

I cant see how Rodri will be back playing 90 mins consistently 3 times a week (that's if we qualify for Europe) like before until the back end of this year or early 2026. Unfortunately there is no quick fix for an ACL, even when he comes back I doubt he'll be expected to play as many games and his minutes will be managed.

Pep had 4 months to develop and implement these 'workarounds' and we continue dropping points against any well organised side we play. The fact we have no cover for such a key position is clear squad neglect and complacency. Our issues will continue until the position is addressed with a specialist DM.

I don't agree that all our issues like not scoring, inviting for counters and poor defending esp at full back will be solved by signing a top DM. That's a very incomplete analysis of the situation IMO.

And I never get an answer who that top DM ready to come would even be.

Not ever player is top or dross. There's a huge amount of middle ground between thos two.

We do need a pure 6 or 6/8 hybrid, someone athletic who can help build up play from deep and doesnt lose the ball, and can maybe make a long diagonal pass.

Goals and assists are a bonus imo.

Call it a DM, CM, doesnt matter.
