Defensive midfielder

Went back and watched his U17 stuff. He was always a Kevin type. The English Iniesta nickname was a misnomer.
He might be a Silva later in age though as he gets slower, mcatee was always more silva imo

Foden was always that player. He was never gonna be a silva.
I agree, even im the academt days.

I was just hoping he would develop to play deeper.

Obviously Pep starting him as a winger always meant he was gonna go in a more goals and assist player.

I hope Bobb can be our Pedri.

I'd argue Iniesta were more of an offensive dribbler than a metronome himself. Left those duties to Busquets and Xavi, and even Dave in the national team. Both Bernardo and Foden more similiar to him than a David Silva

Iniesta obviously in a league of his own, my favourite offensive midfielder to watch of all time

Yeah Xavi made that Barca team tick more than Iniesta did (he was brilliant in linking the attack though).

Funny you should mention Busquets because I read somewhere that we've actually enquired about bringing him in on a short term deal from Miami.....

Fernandinho is in town. Perhaps a guest for the CL game with Brugge or giving our midfielders a pep talk on how to stop the opposition. Good to have him back in the City!

I know I'm going to get pelters for this, but if a midfielder isn't brought in before Monday then for me this window has been bang average. Other than Marmoush who looks like an Alvarez replacement and going off first viewings a good replacement the young defenders are nothing but potential. Who hand on heart when we play arsenal on Sunday would be confident if we had to play 1 or both of Reis and Khusanov? For me a top midfielder coming in the next 5 days is the difference between a strong end to the season and it being a slog just to make Europe.

Fully agree with this, signings are exciting but lets be honest, only Marmoush currently is an upgrade and like you say, no midfielder now means that our biggest flaw this season still wont have been fixed and Arsenal, Liverpool etc will absolutely batter us.

How many midfielders in the world can come in a Pep team and be class from the beginning? Even Ferna and Rodri struggled in their first seasons under Pep.

We'll get a midfielder if he has the quality to be a long-term member of the squad, and not simply because some fans are desperate to sign one.

Ferna didn't struggle in Pep's first season, the reason we struggled was because we had 4x 30 plus year old fullbacks/defenders.
Similar to now but obviously a different area of the pitch.

He did, Pep benched him or didn't play him at DM many games in the 2nd half of 16/17 . Short memories.
