Defensive midfielder

Still think tomorrow is going to be an interesting day for developments once the relevant teams, us included, have got the champions league game out of the way, as well as clarity on our qualification (or otherwise)

They won't. We'll do better than many expect.

Also, a new midfielder isn't likely to help immediately, as he doesn't know the system. Knowing the system, understanding the movements and habits of your team-mates, what is required in microsituations, etc. takes time.

I want a new midfielder or two, but they will need at least 2 months before being capable to shine. In February we'll have to do with the current options, and, again, we'll do better than expected.

Why ? Obviously Bruno G is the player we need but doubt Newcastle will sell and honestly the moment you pay that much - teams will start a petition to raise the city tax. I don’t see Cambiasso as the absolute solution either but he gives Gvardiol and Nunes enough rest . Our current options are only those 2 on the outside. Especially gvardiol has been playing nonstop And needs a major rest.

I'll question the sanity of any poster who questions the sanity of people (the board) who are amongst the best in the world at what they do.

We wouldn't pay 75m for Cambiasso, but he is 3-4 years younger than Bruno G and much more versatile. Having versatile squad players is one of the secrets of our success over the last 8 years.

Cambiaso is about 2.3 years younger than Bruno G...

Paying 75m for him would be insane, he is good, but he isn't generational good.

50m tops for him, 75m would be far more than we paid for Marmoush...

word is it would be 70m euros which is just over £59m but i`m sure that would include add ons.
 
The prices quoted are the prices you'd expect to pay for the world's best in that position, as we got with Gvardiol. I've no issue with us paying those fees if that's what we are getting, question is, would we be getting that? He's nearly 25 already and I'd never heard him even mentioned until a few weeks ago. I accept that could well be my ignorance though.

Where did you read 59m? I've only seen 75m.

59m is pushing it for me as well tbh, but I would maybe just about be okay with it.

Again, he is good, but like a poster above me just said, people are only hearing about him now, he isn't that good that we throw away money and bow down to Juventus like this.

Manchester United are about to buy a young LWB for about 28m, about the same deal as our young CB potentials.

Let's keep that going, and get 2 of those imo, LB and RB.

Whilst I don't necessarily disagree with any of this, I don't think I'd be using a united transfer as an example of good business given their recent record.

Mullock said it was £59.7m but I would imagine that would include add ons. The is some insinuation that the story was soften as Juve would have to announce a sale on the stock market so it was reworded

Angel Gomes and Adam Wharton are good young English players with that sort of profile who will be available in the Summer. I wouldn't mind either.
 
Wont be Gomes, could easy be Wharton depending how his fitness is the rest of the season
