Defoe - Proven Premiership Goalscorer

30-year-old Defoe who hasn't scored in the league since Christmas time and who Spurs are desperate to replace with a real quality striker? He has his good patches but on the whole is average and inconsistent, definitely not what we want.

When Defoe gets chances, he generally scores them. In our team, he'd get lots of chances. How many times have you screamed " SHOOT" at any number of our players ? Defoe shoots on sight, not always the right decision but, I'd be prepared to take a risk on him.

I'd argue he doesn't and misses many.

He get's his goals against teams with defences in shreds and when he is brought on against very tired defences after 70mins as a sub.

I don't think that is anything like what we need, he is at best an average poacher who offers next to nothing as a team player.

We need to be looking at forwards who don't go missing so much and are willing to have a real go at it imo.

A proven Premiership striker is a must for next season rather than a big money gamble from aboard, I would like to see us go for a Defoe who will score goals given a run and would also offer impact from the bench.

RVP has been the difference this season and hate to admit it.

I reckon if we chuck enough money at it that go-getter Michael Owen is available for a signing on fee. He's proven and should be up for the challenge.
