One of my favourite players to have never played for us. Currently a free-agent after being released by Juventus. Anyone else think he would be a great person to have around, as a player-coach? Still got some ability and while he is never going to start a big game for us could do a job in the cups and he would also be a good teacher for Aguero and Balotelli.

Would love him at City, Mancini would probably like him as well. We simply aren't going to pay what Montreal Maltesers or whatever they are called will nor the teams in UAE etc.

One of my favourites too! Unfortunately, I don't feel he'd have much of an impact at City, even in training. However, I wouldn't think twice about signing other free agents like Seedorf on a one year contract. In terms of teaching Strikers, Mancini is just as good ;)

Exactly what we need - another striker, we should go for him. I understand why you made this topic

I would want us to sign him primarily as a coach rather than someone to compete for a place with Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli. He was a great player and his expertise can certainly do no harm to someone like Balotelli.

Would you not rather have a youth player doing what you just described? Playing in cup games and not big games ie. Guidetti.

No because Guidetti would benefit more from playing week in week out at a smaller side in the Premier League than just sitting on the bench and only playing in cup games for us.

Would you take just cup games after a full season of first team football? I wouldn't. Would be best for all parties if Guidetti got another season on loan, somewhere in the premier league. I'd rather give Hiwula cup games as well as reserve team football if anyone, if Bunn is not around.

Is this thread serious? Jesus christ hes 37!!!

I have already said I don't want us to sign Del Piero with the expectation of him getting 10+ goals a season and playing most games. I want us to sign him as a coach who can also play in the Carling Cup and maybe a few other games. He has bags of European experience and was an amazing player, he could certainly do our team no harm.

Great player in his heyday but is now in the twilight of his career.
Sorry to be harsh but we should be signing young up and coming players and not 'has beens'.

And few people would be a better coach to these young players than Del Piero...

Clarkie surely?

If Mancini went out and got Del Piero as a coach for us would you be annoyed or dissapointed? People are acting as though he is some nobody. He was a very very good player, one of the best of his generation, and I think he could help our current strikers progress as players.
