Good post from VT - Scousers take note

I truly do believe Delph loves the club. I think this is a decision he's made for his career. Every player wants to be playing in the Champions League and earning top dollar, which he'll be doing. I think he's tried to justify staying here but eventually given in to the lure of challenging for trophies and playing at the highest level. I don't blame him for that. I also think he'll have been given assurances of his place in the side, otherwise I doubt he'd have decided to go there.

The circumstances for him are unfortunate in that they make him look like a bit of a clown, but I do wish him well.

Good post that.

I know it's easy to say it now - assuming he is coming of course - but I was never 100% convinced the deal was off. I've seen u-turns on deals before, Fowler being one, and thought there was always a chance this could be resurrected. As surprising as this u-turn may be, last week's u-turn was more surprising for me and I don't mean that with any disrespect to Villa.

Must be linked to Benteke in some way. As in perhaps he was assured Villa weren't going to sell him/their best players etc
Doubt it. How can Villa assure him that nobody will meet Benteke's release clause? Everyone knew Benteke was leaving as soon as Liverpool got the Sterling money. This has to be for different reasons.

Perhaps it's down to the proposed takeover collapsing. It was presumably all going to be roses, and the Sherwood said this week it was off. Delph is gone a few days later.

Certainly feasible. Randy Lerner has no intentions of investing in the playing staff as he's trying to sell up. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Delph was told "after the takeover we'll be looking to strengthen the squad and push on", all of which would now be moot as the takeover has collapsed.
