If we had stolen lescott off u we would understand the anger but we payed well above the odds for him
I agree, it was a fantastic deal and I'm not someone who's ever had a beef with manchester city about it. I think Moyes disliked the way it was done last minute and meant we had to dash out and grad the first defender we could, but yeah we did well out of it.
This is utter bollocks. City put a reasonable bid on the table early on - Moyes played the game and turned it down. We then increased the bid further (way over the odds) - Moyes played the game some more and turned it down. Hughes (the tool) went back and offered even more money and by this time a few weeks had passed.
I've got no problem with Moyes playing hardball; that's his prerogative. But it's disingenuous to suggest that City came in at the last minute. It was Moyes that dragged it out to get a ridiculously inflated price.
toffee tom,your talking rubbish.
After the protracted transfer negotiations between our clubs, the deal was finally completed and the first thing moyes did-within hours of selling lescott-was sign that silly russian winger (whose name i can,t spell)-so much for the urgent need to sign a defender!
i can understand any fan or manager being bitter/upset at losing their player of the year..just don,t spout off too much about it in the press, esp. when you nicked lescott off Wolves...their player of the year at the time and a hugely popular figure at molineux.
