I’m not gonna pretend that I watch Borussia Munchengladbach, but from the videoes and reports I’ve seen he’s a Fernandinho type of player, who’s also capable of playing CB. Very quick, strong and great defensively. Good on the ball as well but probably not as good as Rodri in that aspect

Very good tackler, ran the Monchengladbach midfield last season. Very composed and good at dribbling can drive out of defence. Incredible awareness and ability to get out of a tight spot. bad thing about him sometimes is a caught ball watching and tries to take on to many at once
 
For those that dont know much about him i can give you a couple of details on how he plays. i watch bundesliga and other leagues only watch the main teams in those leagues so iv watched a fair amount of monchengladbach. when city dont play. So Zakaria is a very good midfielder there was a problem at the start of the season last year with him being lazy in midfield but he sort of grew out of that. Hes very powerful on the ball takes a few players to get the ball off him hes a very good passer but his main assets are his strength and mobility, by mobility i mean he can get out of a tight space in midfield really easily David Silva/Foden esque and lay off a pass and then on the defensive side of his game hes a brilliant tackler had one of the highest interception rates in the Bundesliga last season. he reminds me abit of Claude Makelele with how he goes into a tackle.

The thing he has, which Fern had & Rodri/Gundogan don't, is to be able to run through the lines.

Imo Fern would have been even better player for City if he'd had the freedom to do that, with a def mid behind him, like he was at Shakhtar.

But he had to do Yaya's defending & remained in that job forever.

We have not had a player like Zakaria in the squad.

We are being linked with him now, probably because of these posts, but i would love him, he has not reached his peak and would benefit playing under Pep, a swap in January with Zinchenko who would also benefit by playing in his own position, something he will never do at City, both are just about fit now,

That`s about it, neither will ever be as good a footballer as Fenandinho and Rodri has a better awareness so a better passing range than Zakaria because Zakaria has more pace and does not use this side of the game as much, something Pep would put right very quickly
