Flags have been used as a communication and celebration tool for more than 4,000 years and here at City we are about to commission one of the biggest and most inspirational you could find anywhere.
And as ever we are looking for our ingenious and innovative fans lend their help, skills and imagination.
In return you could win a prize as big and exciting as your creation and one that has the players’ stamp of approval as they will be picking the winning flag.
Flags were first used to aide co-ordination on noisy battlefields; we won’t be fighting Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on December 14 but the new fans’ banner will undoubtedly help transfer the passion and pride of City fans to Manuel Pellegrini’s title-seeking stars.
As always, you the supporters are at the heart of every match day initiative and we are delighted to launch this new competition inviting designs for the flag which will be unveiled at the upcoming home game against league leading Gunners.
So, if you have an idea for a phrase, iconic image or design that will make the hairs on the back of your fellow fans’ necks stand then please get designing and you could win a fantastic VIP experience at the City v Arsenal top of the table clash.
The day will include being invited on to the pitch to witness your winning design being unveiled for the first time along with a pitch side photograph with Blues legend Mike Summerbee.
Instructions:
The final flag will be landscape orientation and measure 28m x 14m so please bear this in mind when designing yours.
Submit your flag design by attaching it to an email and sending it to
competitions@mcfc.co.uk with the subject ‘Flag Competition’.
Entries can be submitted in jpg or png format only.
