Devante Cole

Excellent news.

The club is doing a great job bringing young players through.

As to the point about the EDS squad losing a lot of players, I'm sure Paddy V. and the others involved in these decisions know what they're doing. At worst, it will give some of the younger players a chance to step up a level.

Tongue firmly in cheek comment previous.

This is what the EDS is all about,development...... it doesn't matter if we lose every game if players are individually making their mark, and it appears that is now very much the case.

C & P'd this from a Barnsley forum, very high praise indeed:

"This lad is insanely good.

I remember a FA Youth Cup Quarter Final at Oakwell a few years ago when Luke and Stefan Moore stood out like men in a boys' team for Aston Villa. Cole looks like that, or a young Cristiano Ronaldo. He's certainly got his Dad's genes. He's so quick but doesn't appear to be busting a gut to get to the ball. Pure class. Not just a Prem player, but a top two Prem player. I'm just amazed we've got him for three moinths - It's like letting your poorer relations borrow your Ferrari for the afternoon!"

Great news regarding Devante as he looks a good prospect with blistering pace.

For me he was our stand out player versus Chelsea U21s and the most likely to step up from that level. But I'm not sure he'd be patient enough to stick around and wait for his chance.

I think the Barnsley fan's opinion goes to show how careful you need to be with ratings at that level. Comparing him with a young Cristiano Ronaldo is pretty ridiculous.

True enough, but it's a good guage to see if a kid has a chance imo, as kids who are going to make it for City, should look like potential stars at that level. Most who don't, probably haven't got it.

We have had quite a few 'top prospects' in recent years, who have looked the part in the reserves etc but then gone to lower league teams & not stood out.

Seems at the moment that quite a few of our kids are impressing at the lower levels, which means they at least have 'something' about them.

and another quick highlight of an attack he was involved in -

Here's the goal for those that are interested:

As the commentator remarks pretty similar goal to his other and hardly a wonder strike but being able to make sure you're in those positions is a decent trait to have especially when you can match it with his natural pace to get beyond defenders. Many strikers have built a career on those two traits alone.

Thanks for the link.
As said,he has natural instincts and an industry that will serve him well, his pace is a bonus that could see him develop into a very good player, hopefully Prem standard.

Dare I say he reminds me of a more prolific Welbeck.
