Good point, it is a case of being professional. We want City players to do their best against any club (ex club or not). When you're on the pitch you probably just focus on winning that match (theoretically ofcourse, though over the years you'd think some City players seem more focused on losing)I know what u mean, but hes a pro doing a job. Hate it when players dont celebrate against old teams, think thats actually disrespectful to his new/club fans.
So yeah maybe dickovs celebration was OTT but theres surely no doubting hes a blue through n through
Some players are going to form attachments to the club, even if they didn't grow up as fans. A lot of the 99 Play Off team did I feel (the above 3 including Dickov certainly ,plus Horlock and Morrison come to mind) recently obviously the likes of Zaba, Kompany, Fernandinho.
Celebrations can be a bit provocative though can't they! Adebayor obviously comes to mind (amusing for us, not so the very pissed off Gooners though!). On the other side of the coin, i agree not celebrating can also come over as a little 'contrived'
