Did it bother anyone that we started with NO...

Why then did the Rags manage to win so many league with a decent amount of Brtit players? If it's about English players being more expensive then we should pay that money. It's been proven time sand time again that having a smattering of English players in your starting 11 wins you the league.

Rags aren't treated the same. Roy Hodgson complained that Lescott wasn't playing enough, yet made Danny Welbeck a fixture even though they had very similar amounts of play time last season and he's shit.

Lescotts is more or a goal threat than that shite

I would love nothing more than a starting XI of English players, most if not all mancunian. The only English players who would make a vast improvement on our best XI are Jack Wilshere and Leyton Baines. You could argue Rooney but would he make a better partner for Aguero than Negredo does?

Richards, Lesscott, Milner and Rodwell all get their chances when fully fit, but they don't exactly strike fear to other European clubs. I would rather have Nastasic, Negredo and Fernandinho then Jones, Welbeck and Cleverly, i think most clubs would.

I'd like to see Milner play more; he always looks a threat when he plays, and looks for more capable of beating a man than Navas does. I'd certainly pick him in away games, you just get more out of him in those type of fixtures than you do from Nasri.

As for the rest of our English contingent, it doesn't really bother me. Yes, it would be nice to have more English players, but there's no room for sentiment. I suppose I'm slightly concerned that Lescott seems to have been frozen out a little; I think we could have done with him at times. But as for the others, Richards will get more games if he stays fit and Rodwell...well, sadly I think he's destined for an early retirement.

And the general responses to the question asked by the OP is exactly why English football is where it is currently...
And to think just over 2 seasons ago we won the league with 4 or 5 English players regularly turning out for us.
It would be truly great if we had English players coming through our system and hopefully in the future they will.

The Premier League has fucked English / British football to the point almost of no return.
If you are happy with that then fine. However, I'm not.

One of the main problems is the fee commanded for English players. Milner cost more than both Silva and YaYa (Obviously taking away wages)
2010

James Milner (Aston Villa): £26m

Yaya Toure (Barcelona): £24m

David Silva (Valencia): £24m

Figures taken from MuEN

Also Negredo cost half of what Liverpool paid for Andy Carroll

Milner was 16m plus Stephen Ireland wasn't he? So in hindsight he cost 16m

I would be tempted to give a flying fuck if arsenil hadn't first done it almost a decade ago now
in fact they had no brits in their entire squad when they blazed this particular trail so many years ago

yawn.....

Ultimately its a point in the direction of the FA. Your players aren't good enough to get in to the top teams. I know they say they're working on it, but what exactly is it that they have planned to make a team win a league with 11 Englishmen? Its about time Englishmen fought English wars anyway.
