did we ruin samaras or was he plain sh*te

you cant put bianchi in the same sentance
he had a great touch - but was played in a system he didnt like and he didnt like england
samaras was toss, and I can forgive a lack of ability, I cant forgive a lack of effort - something I saw too often from sam

another one I saw a load of clips of (before youtube) was big bob taylor - lashing em in from all over

His general play, the runs he made, when he had the ball at his feet, when he should have passed the ball etc - it was all far too slow and took him far too long to realise or decide what he wanted to do, as the Prem was too fast and aggresive for him!

he's probably not such a bad player but he wasnt right for the Prem or City

no... never ruined him he was moderate at best, coupled with fact he had the heart of a mouse. was never gonna make it at this level, not his fault we spunked 6m on him, think that put more pressure on him though..ah well onwards & upwards, learn by your mistakes etc bradbury, samaras,phillips...(buster!)daley,etc etc

Not many players have come into the Premiership and made an impact in their first season. Drogba and Henry both struggled and Samaras certainly wasn't up to their level. But Pearce & Wigley handled him appallingly, according to accounts I've heard, and destroyed his confidence instead of helping him build it up.

In the end, the best thing was for him to get away and even if the SPL is not quite up to PL standard, at least he seems to have found his confidence again.

I fully believe that any forward thinking player looked poor with clueless stu's ultra defensive tactics, i think even the striker's were sent out with defence as their no1 priority. We had some good player's under CS who seem to be ruined by his tactics, namely Musampa, Riera even Corradi was a better player than the coach allowed. As for Samaras, i don't think he was up to the job but was probably a worse player when he left than when he arrived!

he scored some class goals but has he failed like so many babel, kezman,jd thomasen to live up to their rep in the pl
sam came in for a lot of stick at city and i remember being sickened by the abuse he came in for at blackburn away and had never seen a blue come in for so much stick from his own. with us very supportive especially for the young lads out their but i think he was preety shit and had the first touch of a rapist and couldnt pass water
but as he has shown in scotland we dont miss him much

Samaras is the reason why I don't watch YouTube videos about players any more.

I remember sitting on bluemoon in January 2006 being amazed that we managed to catch this wonder kid for such a small fee. Then you realise he's playing against some absolute donkeys!

you tube is the devil

Rest assured, Samaras wasn't great. The fact he looked good before and after he left the Premier League doesn't really prove anything.

The Premier League is easily the toughest league to make a name for yourself in (I'm not saying it's the best league, that's a debate for another day) and there are many examples of quality players who have struggled to come to terms with the pace and phsycality of the English game, but looked like world beaters again when they left - Forlan being my absolute favourite example.

Not that Samaras was quality. No, he's always been bobbins.
