Didn't we bid for RSC in the summer...

The answer is yes we did. Now I like Hughes at the moment, and I thought that was a good press conference. In the past I have been in the Hughes out mindset. But surely, biding for the same player now we are the richest club in the world, that we did in the summer, before all this money, does show lack of ambition; or lack of something?

or maybe it shows hughes faith in a striker, he believes santa cruz can take us to the top

Not too many other clubs beating down Blackburn's door to sign him though are there? Lets hope MH is proved right if he lands him finally.

Exactly...I think the fact is, he did well in his first season, but not this season so far. And he is certainly not good enough to 'take us to the top'. Imrove us, yes, but not to the top. My point was merely that we are, in effect, bidding for the same player who we did when we had, say, a budget of 30 million, compared to our budget of 100 million?? (I am just using example numbers there to illustrate the point.)

So we should base our transfer targets on who other clubs are going for?

Well no-one else looks close to signing Kaka, Villa, Messi, Buffon etc so lets forget them.

I think you have misunderstood his point. He was arguing that if Santa Cruz was this good surely other clubs may be interested, but no1 seems to be.

If Kaka was any good surely other clubs would be interested?

I see the logic but i's hugely flawed.

And how do you know other clubs havn't made bids?

nobody seems to be going for anyone at the mo, and whats the point of trying to go for rsc if we are, they know we will outbid them.
